Jazz.com has an interesting blog that I recently stumbled across and thought I’d plug by adding it to my “blog roll” (the list of URLs under Sites to the right there…). It’s filled with lengthy, article-length posts about jazz, which make for great reading.

The reason it caught my eye is because the lead post as I write this is by Ted Gioia, who is a regular contributor there. Ted Gioia wrote one of my favorite books about jazz, The History of Jazz. If you want a serious introduction to jazz in one book, this is where to start. I think Ted took a more serious, historian-like approach to studying jazz history than the highly entertaining but somewhat lopsided (some say historically innacurate) Ken Burns’ Jazz series on PBS.
