Now, I must admit that I hadn’t heard of Wayne Krantz until stumbling across this press release from Abstract Logix posted on allaboutjazz.com:

Guitar icon Wayne Krantz has signed with Abstract Logix to release his first studio album in thirteen years…

…Wayne Krantz ,ex sideman with Steely Dan, Michael Brecker, Donald Fagen, Chris Potter and many others, is a guitarist who can be spoken about in the same breath as Allan Holdsworth, John McLaughlin and Pat Metheny.

That’s a pretty heavy-duty endorsement. So, being the good skeptical guitar citizen that I am, I went to Wayne’s webiste and clicked the WK Radio Play button. Wow. He’s great. Truly. I particularly liked the exceedingly angular and awesome acoustic piece, “Claudine.”

Here’s an Amazon search for Wayne Krantz.
