New[ish] Sonny Landreth CD
Slide-guitar great Sonny Landreth has a new CD coming out in May 2009 released From the Reach
in May 2008:
When Louisiana-based singer/songwriter/slide-guitar great Sonny Landreth releases his ninth album in May, it will mark an artistic turning point of sorts.
“From the Reach” features collaborations between Landreth and renowned guitar players Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Robben Ford, Eric Johnson and Vince Gill plus performances by legendary entertainers Dr. John and Jimmy Buffett.
For the uninitiated:
Wow.

Reader Bluesgirl wrote to point out that From the Reach was released in May 2008 and is not to be released 2009 as the dcexaminer.com implies. Apparently, they dug up a year-old story to attach to Sonny’s appearance on Jan. 29. …Or maybe they got lazy like me and didn’t fact check.

Missed this link from Bluesgirl: Sonny at Longs Park, Lancaster, PA Aug. 17, 2008. Nice!

“From the Reach” came out in May 2008.
I’ve seen him a time or 2 and I’m fascinated to watch as well as listen. I can’t believe the beautiful sounds that come out of the guitar, and watching him make them takes nothing away from the mystery!
I love that volume knob thing he does. Not to mention the crazy artificial harmonics!
Did you check out the web site link in my second post?
Sonny had the prototype for his new Strat at the last show I saw about a month ago. It’s red and white. He said that the neck is coming along.
Sheesh, I’m slacking today. I missed it. I posted a link to it. He’s amazing. Truly.
