Steampunk and Gator Guitars
Not one but two guitar-related posts on Neatorama.com yesterday. I think I’d probably pass on the Gator Guitar, but I can see that it might have an appeal for some:
Can you “gatorize” my guitar if I send it to you?
Yes, the fee starts at about $350 plus shipping. The guitar will be shipped back in about two weeks after it arrives at our studio. Call us before shipping any guitars. If you send us a guitar, do not take the strings off, and expect the strings to need replacing upon the guitar’s return.
“Steampunk” has become a popular look lately, especially at sites like BoingBoing.net, where they’re forever posting about steampunked doodads–7,240 BoingBoing posts as of this writing mention “steampunk” according to Google. From GizmoWatch.com, here’s what a steampunk guitar looks like:
Built for the 2008 Jersey City Artists Studio Tour by Mark Dalzell, the Steampunk guitar, Organum Insolitus features a television with Fresnel lens magnifier, onboard phaser, an amplifier and uses clockwork gears, hand hammered brass, cloth wire and wood for its making.
