Anyway, Eugene Cheong has designed a device named “Maestro” that you attach to your guitar that lights up frets via lasers on the fretboard in time with Mp3s stored on an SD card.

This via YankoDesign.com. Thing is, I can’t determine if this is a real device. There are a couple of pictures on the site that seem real and lots of design discussion, but no links to a product page (that I could find anyway) or even to Eugene’s homepage.
