Sad news. Guitar legend Snooks Eaglin has passed:

“His death is like losing a Dizzy Gillespie, a Professor Longhair, a Johnny Adams or a Gatemouth Brown,” [Quint] Davis said. “He’s one of those unique giants of New Orleans music.”

Eaglin had an unusual picking technique and once claimed to have a repertoire of over 1000 songs. He was a true showman and rarely followed a set-list, choosing instead to take requests from the audience or play what inspired him at the moment.

Here he is playing Red Beans. Now, who doesn’t enjoy some red beans?

What a truly great player. Godspeed, Snooks.
