Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp
So, when I was a kid, I spent my summers at a six-week sleep-away camp suffering from insomnia in uncomfortable bunk beds, being subjected to daily morning bunk inspections, hammering my thumbs in shop, and being humiliated while trying (and failing) to waterski. We drank “bug juice” and spent most of the summer dreaming of the day we would climb in the bus to go home. One of my friends hated it so much he flat out refused to budge one cold morning out on the rugby field. He just sat down, stuck his thumb in his mouth, and found his happy place. Another kid had to sleep in a tent in the middle of a dirt patch because he kept lighting things on fire. I’m not kidding.
Definitely not rock and roll. (Okay, maybe that last kid was a little rock and roll, but you get my point.)
As an adult, I think maybe I owe it to myself to seek out a good camp, a camp where I might fit in. Like, say, I don’t know, Rock-and-Roll Fantasy Camp in Hollywood, CA. Where else? Hang out with the likes of Steve Tyler, Todd Rundgren, Bruce Kulick, Alan White, Carmin Appice, Duff McKagan, and more. (For some reason, Guy Fieri from the Food Network is there as well. Go figure.) Anyway, the camp runs from April 29th – May 3rd and costs about $8K per person.
Me? I’d probably do it.
And, if you happen to live in the alternate universe where the economy isn’t tanking and corporations are still shelling out for those stupid-ass “team building” weekends, perhaps you can persuade whoever controls the purse strings at your company to spring for the Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp Corporate Party.
Yes, I realize that there is something a little distasteful about Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp, but it’s hard to argue with the talent they’ve lined up now and in the past. We’re talking working rock musicians. Who knows. Maybe they get off on it. I might. Check out the guy in the picture playing guitar with Joe Walsh. That’s a lifetime memory for that fella. And that’s gotta make Joe happy.

Fieri is there as a camper, not as one of the celebrity campers. I guess he plays the drums, and I hear he’s cooking the dinner on the opening night of the camp.
You should go!
Ah, makes sense! Hell, I’d jam with the guy celebrity camper or not. Especially if he was cooking
