Et Tu, Cat Stevens…er, Yusef. Et tu?
Oh for f&*#’s sake. This Viva La Vida melody-stealing thing is getting out of hand. Now Cat Stevens (a.k.a Yusef Islam) is claiming that Joe Satriani and Coldplay stole the Viva La Vida melody from him. Probably not coincidentally, Yusef has just released a new CD, Roadsinger.
“There’s been this argument about Coldplay stealing this melody from Joe Satriani but, if you listen to it, it’s mine! It’s the Foreigner Suite, it is!”

We don’t judge here at Guitarbalooga, but, on a personal note, I think I’m prepared to say that all three songs completely suck. Here’s a video with a mash up of the Satriani song:
The Cat Stevens tune in question is the 18-minute Foreigner Suite from Cat’s 1973 album, Foreigner. I won’t post the entire tune here because, well, let’s face it, it’s pretentious crap too long. You can find it here and here.
