Quartet Live
Guitarbalooga favorite Pat Metheny appears on vibraphonist Gary Burton’s new CD, Quartet Live, along with Steve Swallow on bass and Antonio Sanchez on drums.
These guys have a long history together. The origins began in 1967, when bassist Steve Swallow hooked up with vibes player Gary Burton. A few years later, in the early 70′s, a then 19-year-old Pat Metheny joined the quartet. The rest, as they say, is history. Pat went on to have a stellar career with the Pat Metheny Group and is now regarded as one of the best guitar players in history. He’s well known for his particular brand of jazz-fusion, but he is a wonderful straight-ahead jazz player.
Antonio Sanchez is a newcomer to the quartet. Pat discovered Antonio Sanchez 10 years ago and the two have played together since.
